Logistics
After winning the auction and successfully completing the payment, transportation is arranged to collect the vehicle from the auction yard and deliver it to the nearest port. At the time of collection, the vehicle is usually photographed several additional times; however, some carriers may refuse to take photos.
Delivery to the port depends on the location and typically takes 1–10 business days.
Once the vehicle arrives at the port, it is inspected to confirm the presence of keys and vehicle documents. Additional photos are taken and sent to the client by email. email.
If all required documents are received on time, the vehicle is loaded into a container within 2–4 weeks. In some cases, the auction may delay the release of the title, which can result in longer delivery times.
As soon as we receive the vessel name, container number, and the estimated arrival date, all information will be displayed in the user profile. You will be able to track the vehicle’s journey by sea in real time.
Vessel Transit Time
A container vessel operates similarly to an intercity bus: during its journey, it calls at multiple ports where containers are loaded and unloaded. For this reason, it is practically impossible to predict how long a vessel will remain at any specific port. The longer the route, the more ports the vessel must visit. Weather conditions also have a significant impact—adverse weather may cause substantial delays. For these reasons, we recommend adding one additional week to the estimated arrival date.
When Is It Worth Choosing a Nederlands Port?
Ports in the Netherlands and Belgium are among the main logistics hubs in Europe. Direct vessels from the United States to the Port of Klaipėda are very rare, as containers are usually transshipped in the Netherlands or Belgium onto smaller vessels When departing from the Netherlands, ships typically call at ports in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, and Poland.
Choosing a Dutch port can save 2–3 weeks of time. However, please note that transportation from the Netherlands to Kaunas costs from €500 for cars and from €200 for motorcycles.
Below is an example illustrating potential time savings when choosing a Nederlands port:
A motorcycle departed from the Port of Savannah on January 2 and arrived at a Nederlands port on January 22.
On January 28, the motorcycle was loaded onto another vessel.
It arrived at a Lithuanian port on February 12.
Customs procedures and cargo handling took an additional few weeks.
The client collected the motorcycle from the Port of Klaipėda on February 23.
If the Dutch port had been chosen, the motorcycle would have reached the client on January 29–30. In this case, the motorcycle was a sport model, and transportation from the Netherlands to Kaunas would have cost €200, while delivery from Klaipėda to Kaunas costs €100–120.
When choosing a port, we recommend carefully evaluating delivery timelines and logistics costs from the port to your location.
